3D Imaging: Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT)

CBCT Technology is the newest innovation in 3D imaging. It uses similar technology as traditional CT scanners but is able to do it with less radiation than a traditional series of dental x-rays. It can provide a high definition three dimensional image within seconds.

The health and safety of our patients is our highest priority, which is why we use Cone Beam technology in our office.  This allows us avoid unnecessary radiation exposure and provide the most accurate diagnosis and treatment plans. It facilitates more accurate treatment plans and increases the success of procedures and decreases the risks.

Advantages of CBCT Implant Planning
  • Perfectly size each implant to avoid guesswork

  • Better assess benefits and risk of treatment options

  • Analyze position of nerves, sinuses, adjacent roots prior to surgery

  • Plan implants based on virtual tooth position

  • Design CT guided surgical stents

Benefits of Cone Beam 3D Imaging
  • Provides a high resolution digital 3-D image

  • Able to diagnosis more complex dental conditions

  • Able to diagnose problems earlier

  • Faster, Safer and more comfortable

  • Up to 10x less radiation than traditional radiographs

  • Visualize Anatomy that can't be seen on traditional x-rays:

    • TMJ, sinuses, nerves, airway

Other Benefitial Uses for CBCT Imaging
  • Earlier detection of cysts, tumors, and infections in the jaw

  • TMJ osteoarthritis and pathology

  • Airway studies (evaluation of sleep apnea)

  • Impacted teeth

  • Periodontal Disease
