Oral Pathology

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons are uniquely trained to diagnose and manage all oral pathology. As a licensed physician as well as dentist, Dr. Loveless is equipped to treat most intraoral diseases. Common pathology include:

  • Jaw Cysts

  • Jaw Tumors

  • Oral Cancer

  • Leukoplakia

  • Osteonecrosis

  • Vesiculobullous disease: Pemphigus and Pemphigoid

  • Lichen Planus

  • TMJ Pathology

  • Infections

  • Mucoceles

The mouth is often associated with systemic illness as well and can often be an early warning system for other disease. An oral cancer screening should be done at your dentist's office every six months as well as a monthly screening at home.

Symptoms of oral disease include:

​

  • reddish or whitish patches in the mouth

  • recurring sore that fails to heal

  • bleeding

  • new lump or bump in the mouth

  • chronic sore throat

  • difficulty swallowing

  • difficulty chewing

​
